Last night against the Hawks the Brooklyn Nets had four players with at least 20 points. The Nets earned their fourth win in their last five road games and set a season-high for points scored in any half with 74 points.
Since Kyrie went down the Nets have been 7-3 and according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post the “most optimistic” return for the six-time NBA All-star is around 1-2 weeks.
With Durant likely to miss this season after rupturing his Achilles during the 2019 NBA finals, the Nets’ best chance at having a go-to superstar in the crunch time while competing for a playoff spot is Kyrie Irving, or so it seems...
The Nets have been going to the likes of Spencer Dinwiddie, who showed the us last season he deserves to be in the league. On Friday’s win against the Celtics in Brooklyn, Head Coach Kenny Atkinson said he was “playing as good as any player in the NBA” (Don’t tell LeBron; Giannis, Harden or Luka).
Last night Dinwiddie dropped a decent stat line of 24 points 6 rebounds and 5 assists and is giving coach Kenny a good headache to have when him and Kyrie are both healthy.
An honorable mention for last night was the effort of veteran guard Garrett Temple. A season-high 27 points did not go unnoticed. Although he’s just a 35.3 percent three-point shooter; has never averaged double figures, and his defensive metrics don’t compare to those of an elite defender, Temple’s value comes in his well-rounded play.
This season for the Nets he has proven a reliable three-point shooter, shooting 36.8 percent and guarding one through three and sometimes four just goes to show that he is a dependable versatile defender.
Kyrie actually recruited Temple as a veteran defender; the same night as Kyrie KD and DeAndre Jordan.
After his 27 points at Atlanta, Temple is averaging a career-high 10.1 points per game and within the Nets system his establishing himself in that ‘3-and-D' weapon on Brooklyn’s roster.
